DRUNKEN SAILOR - shanty songs from yesteryear. Our Drunken Sailor Shantymen came together to sing genuine shanty songs in traditional fashion, exactly as our sailor heroes sang. In every performance we convey our audience back to the good bad old times years ago upon the high seas. Each shanty song has it’s own tale to tell in rhythms of life on the ocean waves.
Eight Bells (Irl)
Eight Bells, Ireland's only all-female shanty group have performed at International Shanty Festivals in Holland, England & Ireland. This year, 2016, they are pushing out from Memory Harbour and steering a course for the Aland Islands to take part in the Baltic Shanty Festival. Their singing is unique and colourful, bringing a refreshing female slant to the shanty scene. They are regulars at the folk and shanty sessions in Harry's, Rosses Point.
Femmes de Marins (F)
Femmes de Marins is a three women shanty group who plays on shanty festivals and maritime meetings since 1993. They celebrate the heritage of the sea singing traditional and modern shanties and sea songs. Françoise joined the group from the beginning with her accordeon, Yolande with her cello in 2002, Evelyne with her guitar in 2008…..unortunately she is working as Françoise and Yolanda are flying to the Baltic Shanty Festival as a duet representation of Femmes de Marins.
Many a Mickle (Brittany, F)
Four voices – two male and two female – acapella in close harmony are the trademark of Many a Mickle. Jane and Peter Mickelborough, Carol Szewczyk and Colin Godfrey, four friends who between them have sung traditional song for over 100 years! Living in Brittany, France, they sing songs of the sea, in English and in French, from the rhythms of the shanty to the lyrical lament of the wife left ashore, from the cynical complaint of the underpaid tar to the rabble-rousing hymn to maritime victory.

The Liquor King L O Smith, the thief Lasse-Maja and the mountaineer George Mallory are some of the strong personalities in Mats' contemporary songs.
In his songs we'll also get to meet tramps and vagrants and Mats will let us take part of his cunning reflections of our times. Old broadsides, emigrant songs and shanties wake up to a second life in Mats' compositions .

Monica Söderberg (S)
Monica Söderberg - folk and jazz singer, voice and rhytm teacher - willingly sings in the church as well as in the pub. She has participated in many folk music festivals around Scandinavia and she's a regular at the jazz scene in Stockholm. She is a living dictionary concerning traditional music like shanties and sea songs!

Munviga (S)
Munviga - the female choir with great energy and sweet tones, where song of joy is the driving force. Their repertoire is ranges from the sweet and delicate to shanties and drinking songs. The choir likes to experiment with the voice as an expression and to work with Music Art Performance. Munviga also have an international collaboration. The leader of the pack: Gina van Dam is a troubadour, singer-song-writer and composer who has worked with choirs both in Sweden and internationally for over 40 years.

Perły i Łotry (Pearls and Rascals) (Pl)
Perły i Łotry (Pearls and Rascals) formed in 1994 in Poland. In 2000 the group won the Douarnenez Festival in France and in 2003 the vocal art of the group was appreciated by the jury of the "Shanties" Festival in Krakow and received the Stan Hugill prize "For Fidelity to Classic Shanty". The group has performed at many of the main shanty festivals across Europe.
The band's discography includes 7 studio albums and numerous guest appearances. Their 2010 album, "Na wygnaniu" (In exile), was the first folk album in Poland released under Creative Commons license as a free download over the Internet.

Quilty (S)
Quilty play traditional Irish music with a strong personal touch. Whirling jigs, reels, hornpipes and polkas and songs of love, emigration and adventures of the sea are interwoven to create a colourful concert with many surprising and exciting musical experiences.
The group has existed since 1993 and is one of the few professional music groups in Scandinavia to specialize in Irish traditional music. Over the years they have toured extensively and have built a reputation of delivering great concerts.

Shanty Crew (UK)
Where there is salt water, the Shanty Crew have been there! The crew is currently Chris Roche and Dominic Dowsey-Magog. Both have a wealth of shanties and stories, poetry and contemporary songs. Their style is best described as mainly unison with some natural harmony and lots of commitment, guts, and power as close as possible to the historical source.

The Trad Academy Sea Shanty Choir is a non-audition community choir based in London, celebrating traditional maritime work songs as well as contemporary songs of the sea. With an inclusive ethos, choir members range in age from 18 to 75 and comprise many different nationalities.
Formed in 2014 by sailor and musician Pete Truin, The Trad Academy Sea Shanty Choir have collaborated with various artists. In 2015 they released their debut album Maiden Voyage. 2016 looks to be another busy year with the choir bound for Baltic Shanty Festival. In addition to this, July will see them return to Wilton’s Music Hall for two nights, working with acclaimed writer, director and actor, James Burke-Dunsmore on a retelling of the The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

Trim Rig and A Doxy (UK)
Trim Rig And a Doxy are Derek and Julia Batters. Their love of folk music and the traditional songs of the sea has grown into a vibrant and harmonious relationship as a leading shanty duo. The saucy nature of many shanties is enhanced by Derek’s timing and heart-felt delivery of the lyrics while Julia’s fluid and beautiful melodeon accompaniment results in performances that are warm and humorous as well as highly musical.

Originally formed circa 1983 as a folk group, the Crew has undergone many
changes in both personnel, musical style and interpretation, finally concentrating
mainly on maritime music and songs but still retaining our traditional heritage.
Over the years they have performed at many festivals and venues throughout Great Britain, Ireland and Europe from Shanty Festivals, Regattas, and Folk Festivals to fund raising for many charities.
